I'm an artist-producer based in London. Alongside releasing music under my alias Austel, I've recently completed an MA in Creative Music Production researching the gender imbalance in music audio, co-produced an all-female garage anthem in support of the Lionesses at the Women's World Cup, and am now working on several new projects with really exciting upcoming artists.

My music has been championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music, The Line Of Best Fit, O2 Music & Fresh On The Net. As a session musician, I have supported Fleet Foxes, and headlined the Leftfield stage at Glastonbury Festival. As Austel, I've headlined multiple shows in the UK, and performed Sofar Sounds gigs in London, Berlin & New York.

I've just released my new single 'Beds Of Stone', which I co-produced with Grammy-award-winning producer and engineer Guy Massey. The track was mastered by Katie Tavini. Inspired by a love of bands such as Cocteau Twins, The National and Daughter, ‘Beds Of Stone’ fuses wistful piano and ethereal vocals with swirling soundscapes and sonic artefacts.

People, and their beautiful complexities. The sea. The sky. Outer space. Inner space.

Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) would be a dream.

Don't be sucked into creating things for other people at the expense of your own artistry. Trust your ideas and your creativity. Don't buy the bullshit that music production is 'too technical' - you can do whatever you want, explore! Play! Follow your ear and your gut above anything else.

Everybody by Olivia Laing.

I'm really enjoying the new Mitski and Art School Girlfriend albums. I also recently sound-engineered a Sofar show for an amazing artist called Ashaine White, I really love her EP 'Ash'.

Accelerated efforts to fund more female and gender-expansive producers, songwriters and artists so we can improve those dire stats from the Annenberg Report. Equal pay. Support for grassroots communities that are instrumental in nurturing, supporting, and educating gender minorities. Breaking down the patriarchal structures within studio spaces and technology... I think it would be a nicer place for everyone.
