Good news for the Swifties out there, Taylor Swift is the new global ambassador of record store day. To celebrate, she is blessing us with a “special RSD 2022” vinyl. Who’s excited? We are!
“It’s been a true joy for me to watch vinyl sales grow in the past few years and we, the artists, have the fans to thank for this pleasant surprise. Happy Record Store Day, everyone! Stay safe out there.”
This comes after Taylor Swift helped independent record stores in the middle of the pandemic, by sending them signed copies of her albums, Folklore and Evermore. In her statement, she talked about how important it is to keep supporting independent record shops, after a “rough few years”.
Record Store Day is an annual event celebrating independently owned record stores. It brings together fans, artists and record shops all over the world. Over 500 exclusive vinyl releases are made for the event, alongside in-store performances.
Record Store Day co-founder Carrie Colliton said, “We’re pretty picky about the people we invite to ‘wear the sash’, and we always want to make sure those Ambassadors genuinely love record stores and are creative about ways to celebrate them. For our first Global Ambassador, we’re teaming up with a woman who does all that and just happens to be one of the biggest artists on the planet.”
